ITEM #3 – FENCE AND GATE HARDWARE

For starters, things can serve a practical purpose in our lives. From the moment we wake up in the morning, we interact with a multitude of things that help us navigate through our day. We use utensils to eat our breakfast, a toothbrush to clean our teeth, and a car to commute to work. Without these things, our daily routines would be much more difficult and inefficient.

Regardless of whether you’ve had a fence constructed or are researching your options in terms of adding a new fence, you may have heard of terms like spires, pickets, posts and rails. But what about finials, cover flanges and escutcheons? Let us enlighten you! Here is a rundown of some of the main components of a wrought iron fence.
One of the main structural components of a fence are what are called members or rails. These horizontal elements essentially help hold a fence together, and they are an important part of a fence’s overall structure. They are located at the top of a wrought iron fence, they run parallel to the ground and they are where fence panels connect to the posts. Additional horizontal members are often added to create ‘housings’ for decorative elements like internal scrolling.

Sound Insulation

Aluminum is a sustainable material that can be recycled without losing its properties. The recycling process for aluminum requires significantly less energy compared to producing new aluminum from raw materials. Furthermore, many manufacturers now offer aluminum window frames made from recycled content, further contributing to environmental sustainability. By choosing aluminum extrusions for window frames, builders can reduce their carbon footprint and promote green building practices.

Depending on what your fence is protecting, you may not have the opportunity to inspect it during your daily routine. But as with many things in life, prevention is key! It’s best to closely inspect your iron fence, from top to bottom and from one end to the other, keeping a special eye on joints and grooves. If you do this every 2 to 4 weeks, more so during periods of heavy rain, you can spot any rust spots as they crop up and immediately repair them, preventing oxidation from spreading.

BSAA offers excellent corrosion protection and paint adhesion features compared to chromic-acid anodize. It is suitable for tight tolerances, bonding, corrosion protection, and it is non-conductive.

If you email the company, how quickly do they get back to you?  Same goes with a phone call.  If you emailed or called and have not heard anything back the same or next day when they are trying to earn your business, how receptive do you think they will be after they have your money?  A place where you can get a direct extension and name is going to be much more helpful and receptive than a place with a generic email and no direct people to work with.

Aluminum, while rust-resistant, can bend or dent, making it less suitable for high-impact or high-security areas. It’s more of a visual fence than anything.
