The most common oil seals are the ERIKS types R, RST, M and MST, which correspond respectively to types A, AS, B and BS according to DIN 3760/ISO 6194.
- Car Valve Cover Gasket Essential for Engine Performance
- Regular maintenance, including the timely replacement of spark plugs, can significantly enhance an engine's performance and longevity. NGK MGB Spark Plugs, with their superior quality and dependable performance, make this maintenance process both effective and straightforward. Their easy installation and compatibility with a wide range of vehicles further add to their appeal.
- Cork rubber gaskets are an incredibly versatile material that has been used in a wide range of sealing applications for decades. These gaskets are made from a combination of natural cork and synthetic rubber, which gives them excellent properties such as high elasticity, resistance to chemicals, and good thermal stability. As a result, cork rubber gaskets are widely used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and construction.
1.0 The material of the sealing lip is chosen according to the liquid to be sealed and the rotational speed. For larger shafts, an NBR sealing lip can cope with surface speeds of up to 10-12 m/s, while an FKM lip is suitable for speeds of up to 35-38 m/s.
Most ERIKS oil seals, such as the types M, MST, R and RST, are made of NBR as standard.
- Firstly, it is important to understand what a valve cover gasket is. A valve cover gasket is a seal that sits between the cylinder head and the valve cover, preventing oil from leaking out of the engine and onto the ground. The B20 series valve cover gasket is specifically designed for certain types of engines, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.
Car engine oil seals are essential components that prevent oil leaks and maintain proper lubrication within the engine. They play a crucial role in preserving the integrity and efficiency of the engine, contributing to its overall performance and longevity. High-quality engine oil seals are designed to withstand the demanding conditions of automotive operation, ensuring reliable sealing solutions for critical engine components.
In our cutting edge technology centers in the Netherlands, the USA and the UK, we design and develop specific and custom-made rubber sealing parts for many industries.
Oil Seals – Everything You Need To Know About
- and solvents have the ability to resist, especially all acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons
- 1. Radial shaft seals These seals are designed to prevent oil leakage along the radial direction of a shaft. They are commonly used in automotive transmissions, gearboxes, and pumps.
ERIKS type M (type B according to the DIN standard) has a single metal casing and rubber sealing lip. Since the casing is made of metal, it must be fitted in a well-finished, undamaged groove. Large volumes of oil seals with metal casings are often cheaper, which is why they are often used as original equipment in machines. However, if an oil seal has to be replaced, types with a rubber exterior (type R or RST) are easier to fit. Type MST is similar to M and commonly used. The difference is the dust lip in the MST oil seal that prevents dust and dirt reaching the sealing lip, and extends its service life in dusty environments.

m20 valve cover gasket. Once the cover is removed, the old gasket can be easily peeled off and replaced with a new one.
Remove the cylinder head (See How to remove a cylinder head ), carefully peeling off the old gasket from the head or block. Make sure no dirt or carbon falls into the engine.
One option is to buy oil seals from specialised gasket and sealing material companies like Polymer Trade Manufacturing Ltd, which is known for its expertise in dealing with gaskets and o rings. These companies not only offer an extensive range of oil seals but also provide expert advice to help customers select the right sealing materials for their specific requirements.
