When making your choice, consider the material of the pan, its heat distribution properties, and how easy it is to clean and maintain. Take into account any drawbacks, such as the need for special care and maintenance or the limited lifespan of the non-stick coating.

The sides of a French skillet are taller than those of a typical frying pan, with sides about 2 inches steep (depending on the dimensions of the skillet). While they are usually straight, some French skillets have slightly rounded or sloped sides.

Now this is a pretty tricky one. Frypans and skillets both rarely come with lids. When a frypan does come with a lid, it’s often made from glass which allows you to monitor food easily. Even so, it’s pretty rare for a lid to be available unless you specifically purchase the lid as an add-on.
